Things That Make Me Think the Rapture Is SoonA convergence, not a coincidence

“People have always been saying that”

This is the standard reply, and it is meant to close the subject. Every generation has had its preachers of the last days, all of them were wrong, therefore this generation is wrong too. As an argument it has one weakness: Scripture predicted that people would make it.

Peter names the objection and files it under the last days. The scoffing is not evidence that the coming is far off. It is one of the listed conditions of its being near. That does not prove the case on its own, and it is not offered as proof. It removes the objection from the table so the actual evidence can be looked at.

Faith is not the absence of evidence

The second reply comes back sharper: fine, but how could you possibly know? The honest answer is that I know it by faith, and for a lot of people that is where the conversation ends, because faith is heard as a polite word for guessing. The Bible does not use it that way.

¹Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:1

Substance and evidence. Faith rests on the word of a God who has not yet been wrong, which is a different thing from optimism. Paul puts the waiting in the same frame: the whole creation groans, and we groan with it, waiting for the redemption of our body (Romans 8:22-23). Hope that can already be seen is not hope at all (Romans 8:24-25).

⁴But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. ⁵Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

1 Thessalonians 5:4-5

The day comes on the world as a thief. It does not come on the church that way, and the reason given is light. A believer with the word of God open is not required to be surprised.

No date, and no one setting one

Before anything else, the limit. Nobody in this study is naming a day, and nobody should. Jesus shut that door Himself and left it shut.

³⁶But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Matthew 24:36

When the disciples asked about the timing directly, they were told it was not theirs to know (Acts 1:7). Every man who has since put a date on a calendar has been wrong, and has handed the scoffer of 2 Peter 3:3 another free round.

What Scripture does command is watching. Not calculating: watching. The instruction is to be ready at an hour we do not expect (Matthew 24:44), to look for the blessed hope (Titus 2:13), and to keep our eyes open while the day approaches (Hebrews 10:25). Reading the season is exactly what we were told to do. Reading the date is exactly what we were told we cannot do.

An arms race where the winner takes everything

Start with the one thing almost nobody disputes. The rate of change in artificial intelligence is not linear, and the people building it say so in public. The change coming in the next year is expected to dwarf the last ten. That is not a claim being made by Bible teachers. It is the claim being made by the labs.

The same people say something else in public, which is stranger. They say this may end very badly, up to and including the end of the world, and that they cannot tell which way it will go. And they are continuing anyway, for a reason they also state openly: if they stop, someone else does not.

That is an arms race, and it is unlike the ones before it. A nuclear stalemate had two sides that could each destroy the other, which is what kept the peace. This one is understood by its own participants to have a single winner, and the winner does not share the result. Whoever gets there first can no longer be caught, and cannot be beaten by anyone still behind.

That agreement is worth sitting with, because of what it implies about government. A winner-takes-all race for the ability to overpower everyone else does not resolve into a committee. Global power is being consolidated in front of us, by people who describe the consolidation in those terms, and who are fighting over which of them ends up holding it.

How one man could rule the world

For most of church history this was the strongest objection to a literal reading of Revelation 13. One man ruling the whole earth, tracking every transaction of every person alive, and enforcing worship of an image that speaks: that is not a theological objection, it is a logistical one. No empire in history could have run it. The Romans could not police a province in real time.

The objection has quietly expired. Not because the text changed, but because the machinery it describes now exists.

⁴And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Revelation 13:4

That is a boast about military supremacy, and it is the exact shape of what the AI race is expected to produce. Not a stronger army, but an unanswerable one. The question in the verse is rhetorical because by then everybody knows the answer.

¹⁵And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. ¹⁶And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: ¹⁷And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Revelation 13:15-17

None of that is a claim about who the man is, or about which company builds which piece. It is the narrower point that a prophecy which required impossible infrastructure now requires only ordinary infrastructure, and that the ordinary infrastructure is being built at enormous cost, right now, by people who would tell you they have never read Revelation 13.

Getting the technology inside the body

A phone in a pocket is not the destination and has never been presented as one. The stated direction is wearable first and implanted after, and the men saying it are the men funding it. Merging with the machine is discussed as an engineering roadmap and sometimes as a survival requirement: keep up with what you built, or be left behind by it.

Set that beside a mark that goes in the right hand or the forehead and gates every purchase, and the distance between the two is not what it was in 1970. The pieces are separately mundane. Payment rails going digital, identity going digital, biometrics at the border, a chip that reads a nerve signal. Assembled, they are the system the text describes.

• ✓A cashless settlement layer, which several central banks are openly designing.
• ✓A digital identity tied to a person rather than a document.
• ✓Biometric authentication that works at the scale of a population.
• ✓Implantable hardware with a two-way link to the nervous system.
• ✓Compute concentrated in a few hands, at a cost only a state or a giant can carry.

Any one of these is a convenience. Together they are a switch, and somebody ends up holding it.

It is not utopia that is coming

The technology conversation has two endings on offer, abundance or catastrophe, and the people running it will tell you they do not know which one they are building. Scripture is not undecided. What is coming is the tribulation, the day of the Lord, the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7).

²¹For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. ²²And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

Matthew 24:21-22

And it gets stranger than the disaster movies. Read the fifth trumpet slowly. Whatever comes up out of the pit is repeatedly called a locust and then described as nothing of the kind: it is told not to touch grass, which is what locusts eat, and it has a king, which locusts do not have.

⁷And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. ⁸And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.

¹¹And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

Revelation 9:7-11

Normal is not what is coming back. That is the point at which a Christian is supposed to be steady rather than frightened, because the same book that describes it also says where the church is while it happens.

⁹For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5:9

The wrath in view in that chapter is the day of the Lord, named two verses earlier. Whatever else is argued about the timing, the church is not appointed to it. That is why 1 Thessalonians 4:18 calls the catching up a comfort and not a warning.

Aliens, and who is running the disclosure

Ten years ago this belonged to late-night radio. Now there are congressional hearings, testimony from senior intelligence and military officers about crash retrieval programs, footage posted on government websites, and the same news networks that mocked the subject for forty years covering it with a straight face.

The interesting question is not whether the objects are real. It is why the ridicule stopped. Institutions that spent decades discrediting this do not all change posture in the same few years by accident. This is a release, it is timed, and somebody chose the timing.

The Bible already said we are not alone

Christians should be the least surprised people in the room, and usually manage to be the most. Scripture has said from the beginning that the world has other inhabitants, that they are organized, and that they are hostile.

¹¹Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹²For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Ephesians 6:11-12

Principalities, powers, rulers, hosts. That is a chain of command, not a metaphor for bad moods. And the first appearance of one of them in the Bible is a creature that talks, reasons, and opens with a question about what God actually said.

¹Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Genesis 3:1

The method has not changed since. It was never a laser. It was a sentence, and the sentence was a question about the reliability of God’s word.

One faith gets asked to move over

Watch what the coming narrative is shaped to do. Advanced beings have been here a long time, they seeded us, they know more than we do, and every religion will have to grow up and make room. Then watch which religion is actually asked to make room. It is not Buddhism that gets shown having a crisis on screen.

The specific claim being prepared, and it is already circulating among the people who study this material full time, is that Jesus was one of them. A hybrid. A visitor. Advanced, benevolent, impressive, and created. Everything except God.

That is not a new idea dressed in new technology. It is the oldest attack there is, and the New Testament answers it in the first three verses of John’s Gospel.

¹In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ²The same was in the beginning with God. ³All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:1-3

Everything that was made, He made. That sentence has no room left in it for Him to be one of the things. Paul says the same about the invisible ranks specifically: thrones, dominions, principalities and powers were all created by Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16). Whatever is out there, it is on the created side of the line, and He is not.

A lie prepared in advance

The two subjects meet at this point. If every believer alive vanishes in an instant, the enemy of God cannot afford the only available explanation to be the one the Bible gave two thousand years ago. He needs a different story, and he needs it to be familiar before it is needed.

Think of how a small child is taught about Christmas Eve. Put out the milk and the biscuits, and in the morning they will be gone, because a man came in the night and took them. The child goes to bed holding the explanation, wakes to the evidence, and the evidence confirms the lie he was handed the night before. He is not reasoning badly. He was simply given the frame first.

Now ask what single image everyone on earth already carries for unexplained disappearance. Not a doctrine. A beam of light and a person going up. It has been in the culture for decades, it is the first thing anyone draws, and it has been sitting there waiting for an event to explain.

¹⁶For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: ¹⁷Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

Scripture says a counterfeit explanation is coming and that it will work, which is the hardest part of the passage to read.

⁹Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, ¹⁰And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-11

One more thing about the timing, which may be nothing and is difficult to ignore. The modern UFO narrative begins in 1947. The vote that produced the modern state of Israel was taken in 1947. The nation was reborn in 1948. Two clocks started in the same eighteen months, and the second one is the subject of the next part.

Why everything keeps coming back to Israel

A country the size of Wales, with a fraction of one percent of the world’s population, occupies a permanent seat in the news of every nation on earth and consumes an extraordinary share of the United Nations’ output. No ordinary explanation covers that. Zechariah wrote the explanation two and a half thousand years ago.

²Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. ³And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

Zechariah 12:2-3

A burdensome stone is something everyone insists on picking up and nobody can put down. That is a fair description of the last seventy-five years of diplomacy. And a city surrounded by armies is the sign Jesus gave for the desolation being near (Luke 21:20).

A treaty is what starts the clock

The seven years do not begin with a war. They begin with a signature.

²⁷And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Daniel 9:27

One week is seven years, and at the midpoint the man who guaranteed the peace stops the sacrifice and takes the temple for himself. Jesus points at that same moment (Matthew 24:15) and Paul describes the man sitting in the temple declaring himself God (2 Thessalonians 2:4). Which requires a temple, and requires sacrifice to have restarted. Preparations for both are further along than most Christians realize.

Isaiah says what the deal will look like from Jerusalem’s side, and it is not flattering. A covenant made in fear, described by God in terms the signatories would never use.

¹⁵Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves.

Isaiah 28:15

Peace and safety

Paul gives the slogan that will be in the air when the day of the Lord arrives, and it is not a slogan of despair.

²For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. ³For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

1 Thessalonians 5:2-3

The King James reads “peace and safety” where most modern translations read “peace and security,” and the modern wording is the one worth noticing, because it is the exact phrase the United Nations uses about the Middle East, over and over, in documents and at podiums. In practice it has become shorthand for a particular settlement: a Palestinian state, which requires Jerusalem to be divided, which requires Israel to sign something.

The normalization agreements have run in this direction for years, and the remaining holdouts have attached the same condition to joining. Nobody involved is thinking about Daniel. That is rather the point: the pieces move themselves.

“You have been saying soon for ten years”

True, and here is the answer. When a baby is due on the twelfth, you say soon on the eighth. The twelfth comes and goes. On the fifteenth, does anyone conclude the baby is not coming?

A due date passing does not weaken the expectation. It concentrates it. Every year that goes by with the indicators intensifying rather than fading is a year closer, not a year of falsification. That cuts both ways and I will say so: it is also unfalsifiable, which is why nothing here rests on it. It rests on what is measurably different now.

Six days of work, one day of rest

This next one is an inference and it is going to be labeled as an inference. God declares the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10), and the beginning He gave us is a week: six days of work, one day of rest (Genesis 2:2). Peter, in the same chapter that names the scoffers, gives the conversion factor.

⁸But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

2 Peter 3:8

Read as a pattern, that is six thousand years of human labor followed by a thousand years of rest, and Revelation does supply the thousand years: Christ returns at the end of the seven-year tribulation and reigns on the earth for a millennium (Revelation 19:11-16, Revelation 20:4-6). Hebrews calls that remaining rest by its own name (Hebrews 4:9). If the pattern holds, the tribulation is the last seven years of the six thousand rather than something after them.

Which puts us, on the usual reckoning, about seven years short of the six thousand. That is either remarkable or a coincidence, and the honest thing to say is that nobody can be certain, because the chronology of the earliest genealogies is not precise enough to bear that weight. Two or three years of error would not surprise me. Two or three centuries would.

The convergence is the argument

No single item below proves anything. Several of them have innocent explanations. The case is that all of them are true at once, in one decade, for the first time, and that the Bible listed them together long before any of them was possible.

• ✓A technology race whose own participants say it produces one winner who cannot be opposed.
• ✓A workable path to a cashless economy in which every transaction is visible and revocable.
• ✓Identity, biometrics and implantable hardware converging on the human body.
• ✓A forty-year official denial reversed into an official disclosure campaign, aimed at one faith.
• ✓Israel a nation again after nineteen centuries, and the whole world arguing about one city.
• ✓A treaty over that city, framed as peace and security, as the standing item on the table.
• ✓A rebuilt temple no longer a fantasy, with preparations already made.
• ✓Scoffing at all of the above, exactly as 2 Peter 3:3 said there would be.

People have been wrong about this before. They were also wrong without any of these conditions being in place. There is one thing that harmonizes the whole list, and it is not a theory about technology or a theory about politics. It is the Bible, and it was written first.
